Terms of Service
Last updated: 30 May 2026
The plain-language agreement between you and Birdy.
1. Acceptance
By using the Birdy app or this website, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use Birdy.
2. The service
Birdy identifies birds from sound and lets you keep a field journal of your sightings. Some features work offline; signing in lets you sync your journal across devices.
3. Your account
You can sign in with Google to enable sync. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for activity that happens under it.
4. Acceptable use
Use Birdy lawfully. Do not attempt to disrupt the service, abuse the recognition systems, scrape data at scale, or use the app to harass wildlife or break local wildlife-protection rules.
5. Your content
Your sightings, notes and recordings are yours. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, process and sync them so the service can work, and to show them back to you. If you choose to share a sighting publicly, you allow it to be displayed on a shareable page.
6. Identification is an estimate
Bird identification is produced by machine-learning models and is a best-effort estimate, not a guarantee. Do not rely on it for safety-critical, legal, scientific or commercial decisions without independent verification.
7. Intellectual property & attribution
The Birdy name, design and code belong to us. Recognition uses the Perch model (Google, Apache-2.0), and species reference content comes from eBird, iNaturalist, Wikipedia and xeno-canto — each under its own license and attributed accordingly. Those rights remain with their owners.
8. Third-party services
Birdy relies on third parties such as Google (sign-in), Supabase (storage) and Sentry (diagnostics). Your use of those is also subject to their terms.
9. Disclaimer
Birdy is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that every identification is correct.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of Birdy. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
11. Termination
You can stop using Birdy and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly breached.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The current version is always posted here with its date; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have where you live.
