Delete your account

You can delete your Birdy account and data at any time. Here is exactly how, and what it removes.
Delete from within the app
The fastest way to delete your account is in the Birdy app:
- Open the Me tab and go to Account.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm. Your account and synced data are scheduled for deletion right away.
What gets deleted
- Your account and profile (name, email, photo from Google sign-in).
- Your synced sightings — species, dates, locations, notes and any saved recordings.
- Your sync settings and preferences stored on our servers.
What may be kept briefly
Synced data is removed from our active systems promptly and purged from backups within 30 days. We may retain a minimal record where the law requires it (for example, to meet a legal or accounting obligation). Anonymous diagnostic reports are not linked to your account and are deleted on their normal schedule.
Data on your device
Sightings stored only on your phone (for example if you never signed in) live in the app's local database. Deleting the app, or clearing its data, removes them from the device.
Prefer to ask us?
If you can't access the app, email [email protected] from the address linked to your account and we will delete it for you. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we proceed.
